1979 Vespa 50 Special

After months of looking, I finally found a lovely classic Vespa 50 Special. It is an Italian 1979 model, imported from Perugia a few years ago. It is in remarkable original condition; a few bumps and grazes, but that is part of its character. It is a 4 speed manual transmission, which took me a bit of getting used to; all part of the fun of a classic bike.

One of the lovely things about bikes of this age is that you can do most of the upkeep work yourself. Mechanically it is very simple. I am not sure I am at the stage where I can rebuild a clutch, but I am enjoying learning. It is delightful to ride, but I am carrying round an arsenal of locks, my only fear is getting it stolen!
